A major water supply improvement project is set to begin in Kabala, aiming to provide clean and safe drinking water to more residents. The project, supported by the Sierra Leone Water Company (SALWACO), will upgrade pipelines, repair storage tanks, and improve water treatment facilities.
Access to clean water has been a persistent problem in Kabala, with many households relying on wells and streams that are vulnerable to contamination. The new system is expected to significantly reduce waterborne diseases.
Local schools and health facilities will also benefit, ensuring better hygiene and sanitation. Authorities believe this will particularly help in reducing illnesses among children.

Residents are being encouraged to use water responsibly and to report any leaks or damage to the water infrastructure once the system is upgraded.
Work is expected to start in the coming weeks, with completion planned for next year.
